Deconstruction is an animated short film that depicts the abstract process of analyzing The Self. We are all multifaceted. Our personalities are a concoction of characters; both meticulously and haphazardly constructed by the conscious and unconscious mind. Join us in examining the building blocks of who we really are.
'Glass' is a video essay on the art and process of glass blowing. The short film was created for the first year Sound & Video class at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program. The film was shot, produced and edited as a collaborative effort between Xialong Mu, Yuhang Jedy Chen and Craig Pickard. The film features Andrew Hughes, a glass blower operating out of UrbanGlass Studios in Brooklyn, New York. In the film, Andrew is assisted by Daniel O'Shea.
An interactive Installation exploring materiality in a physical-virtual space using a textile-based user interface.
A final assignment for my Nature of Code class at NYU's Interactive Telecommunication program. The 3D flocking simulation is based on Robert Hodgin's 'Welcome to Cinder' tutorial. 7000 boids adhere to the principles of cohesion, repulsion and alignment as they are stalked by three predators.
In honor of my first ever "snow experience" in New York, I coded a particle system using Processing to simulate the falling and accumulation of snow.
The theme of the project was the recent Ebola epidemic. Each particle in the system represents a tweet containing the hashtag "#ebola". Connections are drawn between particles that share other hashtagged words. User's are able to tweet in real-time and view their data in the system. I integrated a Leap Motion controller that allows users to manipulate tweets with a pinching gesture.
